My new gig and an office with a view

People do their best work when what they do is a part of who they are. That may be painting if you’re an artist, reporting if you’re a journalist, or winemaking if you’re a vintner. In my first couple weeks of working at Benziger Family Winery, not only is it apparent to me that the Biodynamic© farming practices make the wines the distinctive and delicious wines they are, but the care of the Benziger family and employees is in that wine, too.

Benziger works closely with the earth, and that characterizes the juice. Though I am working in the marketing department (so I am not romping through vineyards or plucking grapes from vines nearly as often as those who manage the ranch), I receive plenty of reminders from co-workers of the importance to feel connected with this place (this terroir in the wine world). Typing at a computer or working on the internet for too long could potentially distract from that connection, but a walk amongst the vines brings me back to reality. The reality is that our wines are not just a product, this land is not a factory, and even our branding is not just words.

Below are a few of the pictures I have had the opportunity to take on my strolls through Benziger’s Sonoma Mountain Estate. These and others are also archived under The Clarity Post’s “Photo Archive” page.

Thanks for my CD of sheep… I have added them to my library of over 200 or so of these creatures.

    • Hi Skye!

Thanks so much for still following the CP even though I don’t get to see you around here anymore. I’m glad you enjoyed the little lamb CD :)

I have a bottle of wine with your name on it that I was supposed to deliver from Mike. Give me a call when it’s convenient for me to drop it by!

Happy New Year, and I do hope to stay in touch,
      Chiara
